What does SAM stand for?

S.A.M. stands for ‘Sine Auxilio Manus’, which translates from Latin as ‘Without the help of the hand’. The name reflects the company's core idea: automated slicing and packaging solutions that minimise manual effort and offer maximum efficiency.

Where are the machines manufactured?

All machines are developed and produced in Austria at our Headquarter in Klagenfurt. Thanks to our high level of vertical integration - from mechanical parts to electronic components - we guarantee the highest quality, precision and reliability in every detail.

Is SAM a family business?

Yes, Fritz Kuchler invented the automatic slicing machine in 1962. Today, his children Constantin and Valentina Kuchler are the second generation to run the company - with tradition, innovation and a strong team, the S.A.M. Family.

What machines does SAM offer?

Manual slicers are suitable for butchers, delicatessens and supermarket counters that want to work flexibly and slice individual portions.

Semi-automatic slicers are ideal for counters in supermarkets and butcher's shops that allow manual but servo-assisted slicing. This minimises the effort required for slicing. Depositing is automatic.

Fully automatic slicing machines are perfect for businesses with a higher throughput, such as supermarkets, butcher's shops or production facilities that want to (pre-)slice larger quantities efficiently and precisely.

Slicing and packaging systems combine both processes and enable supermarkets and butchers to offer self-service products or pre-packed cold cuts in hygienic and fresh packaging.

Where can I purchase a machine?

Our machines are available directly from us. In Austria, Germany and Switzerland, sales are handled without intermediaries, while in other countries we work with selected sales partners. Contact us for personalised advice or a product demonstration.

What service options do you provide?

We offer a comprehensive service - from installation and training to maintenance. Our field service technicians are well equipped and always have all spare parts to hand. We are also available 24/7 by telephone to ensure rapid support.

About PX3 MAP

Can the machine vacuum and MAP package?

Yes, the PX3 MAP can both vacuum pack and pack in a modified atmosphere (MAP). These packaging methods extend the shelf life of the products and ensure a hygienic, fresh presentation of the cold cuts.

How many packs per hour does the PX3 MAP produce?

The PX3 slices at a speed of 55 slices per minute. The number of packs per hour depends on the desired portion size and layout.  The PX3 can produce 155 packs per hour.

What does multilayer packaging mean?

The PX3 MAP packs the cold cuts in several layers, one on top of the other. Each layer is individually sealed so that the customer can only open one layer and keep the rest of the pack fresh and hygienic. This extends the shelf life and ensures practical handling.
